Get to Know Mike Moore

Mike Moore is a lifelong Hoosier with deep roots in Central Indiana. A graduate of Southport High School, Mike learned early the values of hard work, service, and commitment to community.

After graduating high school, Mike joined the U.S. Army Reserve in 1991. He also worked as a Union Sheet Metal Worker. He became a Military Police officer, serving as a Combat Support MP. When reserve units were downsized during the Clinton administration, Mike transferred to the Indiana Army National Guard, where he proudly earned the rank of Sergeant.

Mike continued his dedication to public service after basic training. He returned briefly to sheet metal work before being hired as a Firefighter and EMT for the City of Greenwood. He later served with the Indiana Department of Correction and, in 1998, was hired as a Police Officer with the Indiana Capitol Police. Mike graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, Class 99-137, and was promoted to Sergeant.

While serving with the Indiana Capitol Police, Mike developed a deep respect for the honor and responsibility of protecting Indiana’s Statehouse and those who serve within it. He later joined a Police Department in Indianapolis, where he currently serves as a Lieutenant.

In May of 2006, Mike was involved in a police action shooting in which he was wounded in the line of duty. For his bravery and service, he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Medal of Valor.

Mike is a devoted family man — the father of three sons and proud grandfather. He lives in Morgan County, where he values the small-town way of life while remaining close to work, shopping, and entertainment.

Morgan County is home, and Mike wants the very best for the families who live here. That is why he is running for State Representative.

Mike believes Indiana needs smaller government, lower taxes, and affordable living. He is committed to prioritizing teachers, public safety professionals, skilled trades, and protecting the Second Amendment. He is a strong pro-life advocate who believes every life is sacred and is committed to keeping churches and communities safe.

Mike Moore is ready to continue serving — this time as your voice at the Statehouse.
